Passarella Records is proud to present the 2nd in Danny Passarella’s ‘Tourism’ series.

Following on from 2020’s ‘Rome / Milan’ collaboration with Samantha Togni, this time we find Danny in New York teaming up with the native New Yorker & avant-garde jazz artist Mitch Marcus.

3 tracks swarm across three of the city’s boroughs, from which the EP’s tracks derive their names: Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens.

“Brooklyn” is the EP’s ambience riddled opener. Seven minutes of sonic ooze; strings and synths entangled amidst a trammelling percussion, flourishes of keys sparsely entwined, sealing the listener into a transcendental cocoon.

“Manhattan” follows, a hazy swelter of brass, strings, and flutes coming together in an austere five-minute march. Once again an unrelenting beat is ever-present in the track’s undercurrent as each instrument swell haphazardly, conjuring up the looming skyscrapers for which the city is famed.

“Queens”, the EP’s closer is a kaleidoscopic cavalcade with a funky twinge. Upbeat percussion and keys that flit across the soundscape come together with a driving intensity.

As the final track of “New York” fades out, you feel as if you’ve walked through the streets of these three boroughs in a svelte of just under twenty minutes. The picture painted of the city by Danny Passarella & Mitch Marcus is one that glimmers with an unnerving and intoxicating glean.
